Just saw the listing there today on http://www.dublinmetalevents.com/main/index.php and I have to say, after Opeth, this is the best news I'v heard all year!

Enslaved are by far my favourite black metal band having released nine stunning albums in the space of 12 years. Added to that the great support, this should be a great gig. Only major downer is that it's on in The Village of all places. (hisss hisss boooo)

    Tickets are €23

HOw are The Village on ID? I'd be keen to give this a look-in.

The Village are fairly strict on ID unfortunately. Buy me a ticket and I'll go in your place and tell you all about it ;)

Interesting. I decided to get two Enslaved albums recently for not much reason at all, I got Frost and Isa. Really liking Frost, although I generally don't like black metal a whole lot. Isa is excellent too. Which album would most of their other stuff sound like?

this is a really class lineup and definitely not to be missed.......

Enslaved have had some outstanding output over the last few years - ISA in particular is an excellent album, haven't had a chance to listen to the new one much yet, but like what I've heard........such a great year for gigs.....

Vikingligr Veldi is arguably their "blackest album" with the songs full of blast beats and small changes in the riffs as the songs progress.

Eld was a major step up from the Frost and Vikingligr Veldi era as it is better produced, has some fantastic riffs and lots of different atmospheres. The opening song for instance (Slaget Om Lindisfarne) always makes me envisage the anxious moments before a great battle with the keyboards playing softly for nearly four minutes. The song completely changes direction about 8 minutes through when savage blast beats take over and the slaughtering begins!

Eld is a defining album that made me realise that enslaved are more than just another Darkthrone sound-a-like black metal band. In 2003 they entered a new era with the release of Below The Lights and Isa, two other fantastic albums which show a mature band who diversified slightly, changing their sound to something more accessible and slick.

Ruun is the latest release, which I haven't had time to listen to in great detail but seems to highlight a continuation of the path taken with the above two albums.

Does Attila still do vocals for Keep Of Kalessin? Or did Thebon replace him?

Wouldnt mind seeing frost do his aul tricks for 1349, or did he get replaced also?

Cant keep up with all the switches!

I am DEFINITELY going to be there. Zyklon are one of my favourite bands ever and I missed them last time around so I have to see them this time, and with Enslaved playing as well I'd have to be insane to miss out :O

I got a ticket for the Enslaved gig in September but due to the problems in Heathrow last week I had to postpone my travel arrangements by a week so I'm going to miss the concert. I hate to see the ticket wasted so I put it up on ebay
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220017299270

I'm not looking to make money here just don't want to see it wasted. Though it says will ship to UK I will also ship to Ireland. This is the first time I've put something on ebay so I'm really not trying to rip off here.

    Cheers,

    Mike
