    Quick question - when buying shotgun cartridges in the ROI is it necessary to show any sort of certificate to the dealer?

    Yep, it's essential, though dealers generally will take a copy of it the first time and file, so you don't have to keep bringing the original cert.

    It is indeed. What happens up around the border? Are you able to buy cartridges in the North on the basis of your ROI certificates? I was assured by a local in Cavan that the locals all buy their cartridges in the North because their quite a bit cheaper

    They might be able to do it in practice, but they're committing offences on both sides of the fence by doing so.
