Anybody ever worked on a kibbutz?

In my youth, which was some 20 years ago now, I once spent four months freeing up the Israeli military to go bulldozing Shi'iite houses in Lebanon by working on a kibbutz.

Seemed like a good idea at the time.

Do any other Irish gentiles (like me) ever do this now?

Is there anybody under the age of 30 here who even knows what I'm talking about?

I got quite a shock talking to some 20-something workmates the other day who had never even heard of a kibbutz. It was quite a common thing to do in the early 80s.
