Anybody ever worked on a kibbutz?

In my youth, which was some 20 years ago now, I once spent four months freeing up the Israeli military to go bulldozing Shi'iite houses in Lebanon by working on a kibbutz. Seemed like a good idea at the time. Do any other Irish gentiles (like me) ever do this now? Is there anybody under the age of 30 here who even knows…

Seemed like a good idea at the time.

Is there anybody under the age of 30 here who even knows what I'm talking about?

I got quite a shock talking to some 20-something workmates the other day who had never even heard of a kibbutz. It was quite a common thing to do in the early 80s.
