    When I connect my MP3 player in the USB Port my PC does not recognoise it as a removeable storage device. When I go into "My Computer" an icon should appear. Same problem with a memory stick - does not recognoise it.

    Any ideas? please

    My PC is a Dell Dim 4600 running Windows XP (SP2)

    Thanking you in advance for any theories

    Some USB devices won't be recognised using the front USB ports on some Dell PCs - try using the rear USB ports.

    Start->Control Panel->System.

    Click on hardware tab, then device manager. Scroll down to the bottom and uninstall everything under Universal Serial Bus Controllers. (right click on each item and choose uninstall). Restart PC, let USB reinstall.

    Do you have SP2 installed?
