CRC errors when copying DVD+R to hard drive

A while ago I put a lot of Divx films that I had onto blank DVDs that I bought. The blank DVDS are DVD+R and were pretty cheap, something like 25 for €15. Now I am trying to put them back onto an external hard drive that I recently got but a lot of them are telling me that there is a CRC error when I try to copy them over. Is there any software that will stop this error coming up as I have a feeling that it is the Discs fault and not that there is actually CRCs with with the Disc.

You're screwed. A CRC error means that the data on the disc does not match its checksum; a way of detecting corrupted data.
Cheap DVDs do tend to do this...

Copy whatever you can off the disc, but anything that fails a CRC is likely irrecoverable.

IsoBuster can be very useful with discs that give CRC errors. It's a lot better for reading scratched discs than the normal windows cdrom driver. Note that it may be very slow if these discs are particularly bad. Off the top of my head I think that the error protection mechanisms in DVD+R are a bit better than DVD-R so that may help too.

Also, I would suggest trying another DVD drive too. Not all drives are equally good when it comes to dealing with scratched/degraded media.

Actually, this is an excellent idea, some drives are better at reading dodgy discs than others, especially pure DVD-Rom drives (not writers), in my experience.

If you know someone with a BenQ 1620, 1640, 1650 or 1655 DVD writer try it in one of those drives they are excellent readers, if that doesn't work not much can more can be done.
