splitting MY DSL Connection

Hi there my friend are afetr moving into a rented gaff and have a 3mb Esat DSL connection coming into the house, there are 2 of them in the House both have pc's Im just wondering is there any software or hardware to split this 2mb connection to 1mb each either using MAC filtering / IP filtering username filtering ??

You could also pick up a cheap Linksys WRT54G and flash it with Linux firmware. I'm using DD-WRT on my one and it has traffic shaping and QoS services on it.
