    Hi Guys,

I was just wondering if anyone could tell me if I can take out AppleCare on a Mac product that I have bought second hand? Also is there a limit as to how old the hardware can be to take out AppleCare (I may be buying a 3yr old PowerBook).

    PDD

yeah you can....no problem as long as you register the machine in your name with apple. As for the age of the machine...it must be less that 1 year old unfortunately...so your 3yr old powerbook aint gonna fly with AppleCare

personally, I usually dont bother with manufacturer's care programs (Applecare for instance), Allianz will insure anything for you, including accidental damage. Only problem is they wont insure for 'mechanical faults' like applecare, but then again I dont think applecare takes care of accidental.

    just something to think aboot.

Insurance is one thing but it is generally more costly, Applecare is relatively cheap at less than €70 per anum for an extended warrenty on hardware. Not to mention that the computer should be covered in any household contents insurance.
