SATA NAS suggestions

I've decided to trim down my setup at home cos it's just getting silly (and noisy) at this stage.

At the moment I have my laptop, my desktop, my girfriends desktop, my server and the media pc attached to the tv.

I want (need) to cut wayyyy down. We're getting rid of the girfriends PC cos it's old and never gets used. The media pc is never used and the server is too big and noisey.
So I've decided I want a network attached storage unit. It'll need to take 2/3 SATA drives and be fairly quiet. Something that looks nice would be good too! All of the stuff on Komplett is IDE and I already have 3x 250Gb SATA drives so they're out of the question. I was thinking of maybe putting a nice looking Shuttle sized box together but then I'm back into PC territory and I'd prefer to have an out of the box solution to my problem.

Any suggestions, opinions or info would be much appreciated ;)

    Thanks.

    Ex.

bang linux and an SATA controller in the GF's machine and you're flyin'.

Was thinking of that, but then i'm back to another beige box in the room. I'd prefer to go smaller.... ( But thanks for the suggestion ;) )

maybe you should look into getting a TeraStation Home Server

Now that's the job. Seems the one I want is €2200... (2TB)...

Looks like what I'm looking for though. Thanks ;)

1300 on some of the us sites(after conversion, ex shipping, duty) , which wouldn't be bad for a 2TB raid 5 setup..

If you wanted to go for a cheaper version you could try. A Linksys Network Storage Link for USB 2.0 hard drives.

A Homeplug network adapter and a few sata HDD enclousers, think you can get them on ebay.

Might not be as quick and you will have to reformat you HDD’s.
