Right I had this idea for a while. I have an account at newegg.com and have been ordering a lot from it lately (every week or 2nd week). I reckon their prices are quite good. They dont however ship to Ireland but I live in the US.

If anyone wants me to pick up anything for them and ship it to Ireland let me know. I mentioned this on IRC already, just pay for your item and shipping to Ireland, send me the money via paypal (I mailed a video card to Doodee a few weeks ago and I think it was $8, think got there in a week) It would be cheaper also because of the euro v dollar.Contact me here, pm or Im usually on #boards.ie (nick Ruu) on quakenet. Just thought Id offer to those who dont see me on IRC. :)

No personal gain for me here, just helping out, I dont get any rewards or anything.

Are you declaring the real value of items on entry to Ireland?...you're supposed to you know, otherwise it's tax evasion and illegal.

If you're declaring the true value of items then it works out more expensive then it is to purchase in Ireland, add to that you have NO warranty or RMA prodceadure.

Since you have the account the sales receipt is in your name, it can't be returned to Newegg if anything goes wrong. So you should inform people of this in advance...especially if they are buying high value hardware.

Whatever dude, i've made valid points...if customs intercept it then the buyer is snookered, consider a $500 graphics card and they ask for VAT on it and duties.

    You're in a right pickle.

Is it wrong to be honest?, i wasn't preaching i was stating facts and the pittfalls of what he is proposing.

I'd trust Ruu to not rip me off. I'd also trust him to do his best to help if any issue re: returns would arise. I've checked with him on IRC and he said that he'd try.
Re: Taxes: I'm sure all Boardsies would abide by the laws. ... annnyway. Given the cheaper costs involved, the fact that they could be sent in more than 1 package (i.e. in values less than warrants customs), and could technically be considered gifts - I wouldn't see customs being much of an issue for the majority of purchases.

Also, Richard: you can use more than one
    per post.

I didn't question him or his honesty, in terms of people sending him money and mailing the items. There are risks involved if anything were go to wrong.

I will indeed help people out if their item is faulty and needs sending back to the best of my ability.
