Ford Galaxy Question

    Actually two questions -

    1. I have an automatic 2001 Ford Galaxy 1.9 TDI which I brought in from the UK. I find it extremely sluggish with very little power from take off. I thought that this was the norm, until a friend of mine (who also drives the same model but with manual transmission) highlighted the distinct lack of power today while I was overtaking. Could it be the turbo ? Anyone else have similar problems ? Is there any way of testing it to ensure the turbo is functioning ? If not the turbo, what could it be ?

    2. The air con unit is not functioning. How do I tell if it needs regassing - if not regassing what else could be the problem ??

    Thanks in advance

do you know the BHP on the engine? it wouldn't be the 90bhp engine would it? I know there is an auto optionn on the 115bhp, but maybe there is on the 90 as well.

Your friend could have the 115 or 130bhp model.

AFAIK this is a VW 1.9 TDI engine. The air flow meters often give trouble resulting in lack of power. It might be worth getting it checked out. colm_mcm has a valid point - you should be sure that you are comparing like with like. There are quite a few variants of the TDI engine.
