I`m looking for a special female voice with attitude, someone who wants to make their living from music and not treat this industry as some kind of playtime activity. If you`re a deluded star or hobbyist, then get off the stage right now. We`re 4 male musicians, (2 guitarists, bass player and drummer) in the 18 to 22 age group. We`re looking for a female Thom Yorke if that`s possible.Irish female rock singers are about as scarce as hens teeth, so we`re not holding our breath. But we live in hope...

Hmm...lol what kind of music do you guys play??
Not that I'd be interested myself cuz I can barely hold a tune haha I'm just curious!

Female Thom Yorke!? Ye're not hoping for much are ye?! :D So what kind of music do ye play then?

OK, so Yorkes looks dont excite a photo lens, but his voice is soulful, tuneful, and brilliant if you ask me. I`d love to find a female version, preferably Irish, minus much of the angst. But I`ve probably got as much chance as finding a rocking horse`s droppings. Does an Irish female rock singer even exist?

Think 2 guitars, bass, and drums, with a dollop of Radiohead, and a sprinkling of imagination. So what the .... do you think?

Svengali, n. A person who, with evil intent, tries to persuade another to do what is desired. Frequently used for any kind of coach who seems to exercise an extreme degree of domination over a performer (especially if the person is female or believes he or she can only perform in the presence of the coach).

    Best choice of username? :D

Deep yawn from the toes upwards. A svengali in the tabloid press would infer a control freak who wants to control another person by evil intent.(bless those hacks). A svengali worthy of the name is trying to help other people achieve their goals - be it in art, music or literature.

Too much reading of The Sun, (The Moon), or The Star cheapens the role of the Svengali in promoting culture. Would we have heard of the Beatles (or even heard them) without their svengali Brian Epstein. Or U2 for that matter - without Paul Mc Guinness.

Every writer, artist or band needs a promoter - a svengali - to promote their work in the reality of the commercial world. The noun "svengali" gets a bad description in our dictionaries, but the world would be a drab place without them.

    Hi There,

I may be interested, I'm setting up my own band and write all my own stuff but want to make a career out of music so if I could get paid gigs and liked your music I'd have no problem being in two bands. But, I would like to hear your music? Are you on myspace?

    Cheers

You seem like just the girl for this band. Can you text me please at 087 9881678 and we`ll try to take this further? The band rehearse in the Terenure area if that`s handy for you.
