Bracket for Dish on the back of the house?

    Hi,

Basically I want to get Sky in with multi-room but the front of the house faces south and the 2 rooms I need the Sky in are in the rear of the house.

I don't fancy having the dish on the front and cables running through the house to the rear.

I've heard there's a bracket you can get on the rear of your house that allows the dish to face south over the roof. Anyone know where I might get one as I'm told the Sky Engineers never have one with them. Any help appreciated. Cheers.

My SKY dish is on the back of the house. The installer put the cables over the roof and down the wall to the living room in the front. I have seen installers put the dishes on the chimney also, but it's not a great idea due to the wind loading they experience - could damage the chimney stack.

    Yes there is.

try an Aerial installer / independent sat installer or Electrical Wholesale.

    Two versions:
    1) Short bracket and a cranked arm.

    2) Long brackets for straight pole that extend past gutter. Then put desired length of pole (less than 10ft INCLUDING part that goes past the two brackets.

The brackets should not be too close together nor the top one close to roof si as to stop pole wiggling and aviod lifting top course of bricks/ blocks.

Your looking for a set of T and K Brackets {18inch to 24 inch depands on the distance out past the facia} and 8ft of 1inch and quarter galvinized pole

Am I wasting my time asking for the bracket for the back of the house when I ring Sky? Would it be better to just ask the engineer when he arrives?

I realise the installation may cost more as it's not a standard install but does anyone have any idea how much we're talking? Cheers.

If you booked your install with Sky directly your house will be 1 of 5 house's he will be installing on that day, It's unlikely their Sub contractor would have the equipment to mount your dish on the back of your house .

IF you had of went to an Independant installer he could have done a survey of your house and given you a quote for everything.
