Modding my acoustic

I want to get the strings as close to the fretboard as possible so I can get the best sound out of my acoustic (Tanglewood) without getting horrible fretbuzzes or muting. I have sanded down my bridge a little and have adjusted the truss rod but I can still only get so close before getting fretbuzz etc. How do I go about fixing this or who do I go to to do it for me? Any ideas?

Have you tried experimenting with different gauge strings?

You could also ask a luthier about possibly filing down and re-dressing the frets.

I don't see how any of this would necessarily improve the sound you're getting out of the acoustic though. If it's your playing that's impairing the sound, lowering the action is only going to worsen your fingering.

My playing is not the issue it's the guitar. I'd like the strings closer so I can make it comfortable to play and so I can get better note duration and the like. The guitar sound good as it is, I just want to tweak a little.

I have experimented with different gauges. I have used heavy and lights. Heavies are the spawn of satan, whilst lights are my favourite. I am useing light Elixers at the moment and they are the best strings ever.

I want light strings and easy action because my style is quite fast and includes allot of streching so I just want to make things a little easier.

Usually HIgher gauge= more sustain, more body btw. Not always but mostly
