In the post-finale podcast on abc.com the producers have confirmed that for season 3 they will be showing 6 episodes from the end of Sep to Nov'06 and then a straight run of 17 episodes from Feb 07

Oh and they say that that definitely wasn't Matthew Fox talking to Penny Widmore at the very end...And that Penny Widmore is looking for Desmond, not specifically for the island...They hinted pretty strongly that Desmond is coming back next season...They haven't forgotten about the monster - they just didn't have time to deal with it in season 2..And that in season 3 we find out why Locke is in a wheelchair (so he must be coming back too)

It's so you don't have two and three week breaks every couple of episodes. It's a lot better this way. A seventeen episode straight run is great considering all the stoppages this season.

They never said that she was looking for desmond and not the island
Where did you get that from.?
What they said was that the mystery for the next series was IF she was looking for Desmond or the island. They then went on to compare that with the last series cliffhanger.Use your ears

Chillax buddy - no need to get arsey!

When they were wrapping up that section, one of them, referring to the love angle of the Penelope/Desmond story, said that Penelope was searching for Desmond, as an aside rather then a big statement.

Do I really have to listen to it again? Can anyone else confirm?

Theres a story linked of driveshaft band website which quotes boons mother ..

"Many of the other families of people on board have gathered together and the more affluent ones have created a fund to keep the search going."

Although I don't see how Penny Widmore could be linked to that unless the bloke she was actually marrying (whom she got engaged to while desmond was in prison) was also on the plane ??

Ooh thats an interesting take......the only thing that would go against it is the fact that the producers dont want them to be rescued for another 3+ seasons.
