    Hi,

Im thinking of getting a 360 and I was just wondering if will work out of the box with old xbox games such as pro evo 5 for example or do you have to modify it in someway to do that.

Also I was wondering have many people done any kind of media centre setup with it like replacing the standard hard drive with a much larger one etc. and is it hard to do??

I realise the second part is mostly covered in the modding sticky just wondering about peoples experience at this

    Cheers

backwards compatibility updates are downloaded from xbox live automatically, and have support for most popular xbox games, including pro evo5. You can add an external, usb hard drive, but you can only store music, and pictures on it for the 360 to display. To watch videos, you must have it networked with an MCE based windows pc. But streaming, you cant actually store videos of your choice on it. Only videos you can watch are dvd, and any trailers you can download from the market place.

    The list of compatible games:
    http://www.xbox.com/en-ie/games/backwardcompatibilitygameslist.htm

Pro Evo 5 seems to be on the list

How to get them working (ie what you need):

You essentially need the HD (I'd advise getting the Premium pack, it's better value and comes with the HDD), and to get the updates. You can get them over XBL (Xbox Live) or get the disc (download and burn on a CD using PC, or order it).

Because that's highly illegal. But you can stream avi files etc.. to the 360 with MCE with the transcode plugin. If ya wanna watch avi's, and have a bigger hard drive, just buy a normal xbox, there cheap, and easy to mod for that kinda stuff.

bit of a silly statement to make, whats illegal about watching avi's or mpegs?

Assume whatever you want to. Doesnt make what you said any more correct. Same with that court case that tried to assert p2p was illegal, rather than some of its uses.
