had the garda up to my house today to seize a car radio i bought off ebay a couple of months ago...

seems that the guy in england who sold me the radio has been caught with stolen goods and somehow they found out where the radio was and sent the garda out to get it back...

trying to make a claim with ebay and paypal so hopefully ill get my money back.

    gggrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!

Jesus that's unbelievable! I never thought something like this could happen.

I did have to file a complaint once with eBay/PayPal and didn't have a good experience with them, I hope you fare better than that...

I bought an item that I never received, the seller never posted it. PayPal resolved the issue in my favor but said they cannot credit my account since the seller has no money left in his own PayPal account!

So no money, no item either. And nowhere else to go. They said if the seller gets some money into their account they will take it off them and credit me, but since then the seller's gone off eBay, presumably registered with another username, and that's the end of that story. So much for their 500 euro guarantee.

Thats bad luck, what kind of a rating had the seller?

his rating is 100% with over 140 feedbacks...

just got an email from him, radio was not stolen, he bought it off his job and they reported it stolen after he brought employee rights proceeding against them. has offered me a full refund if i dont get the stereo back. he is trying to sort it out tho...

sounds like a one-off situation, but messy none the less for you and the seller

i've seen items withdrawn from ebay after the buyer (friends) had paid for them. turns out there was a hacked account in one case and a non-delivered item in the other. one girl got her money back and the other had to claim from paypay who were reasonable enough to deal with.

i must say having seen some purchases/ebay activity that the guards haven't been involved before. some of the stuff from far east seems counterfeit and wayy too cheap. its a risk buying on ebay not only for quality but possibly getting into trouble later. if something seems to good to be true it probably is.. tho the price can be very tempting!!

There's risks buying on ebay so i dont go mad buying expensive stuff on it unless they're power sellers. Mainly vinyl is what i buy and you'd be looking around 15/20 euro max for one record so if i do get shafted it's only for a small amount of money. However i've recieved 100% of everything i've ordered so far. So thumbs up to ebay for me. All the vinyl i've ordered are oldskool dance classics and are rare so me is well happy.

Seems fishy... If it was just a 'misunderstanding' over 1 radio, I doubt very much if the police in england would go to all the trouble of contacting another police force in another country to go and visit the household to recover the goods. It is would be grossly OTT for the alleged offence!
