Ideas Anyone - Number 5

can anyone help me out, doing a photo peice and its based on the number "5"....i.e. 5 Gold Rings, 5 Fingers etc....i am having mental block and need some ideas on other things to photograph about the number 5.....anyting else famous you can think of or bizarre, wried unusual....all ideas v. much appreciated....

Rather than going for inanimate objects you could keep an eye open for 5 people at a bus stop, or sitting on a bench, or something. Or you could look for something in the shape of the number 5... or make it for yourself using small objects - the old fruit on the lightbox trick, or something. Come to think of it, do any fruits have 5 sections when you slice them down the middle?

How about some sort of light painting?

Maybe on the side of a wall, set the exposure to about 25 seconds, and trace out the number five on the wall with a torch!

Take five of any objects and see what you can do with them.

Get five friends, and do your typical fashionesque portraits of them...Check out some of Helmut Newtons group work. You could use mascara and a bit of shimmer to elequently draw the number 5 on each of them...That could look quite amazing...

Elequently? New word for halfway between elegant and eloquent, or are you just hungover? I never had you down as the mascara and glitter type either mind you. Heh, you think you know someone...

Is there more to be done with this rather than just five of any given thing? Surely we can stretch to something a bit more obscure... maybe shrimp's clicker! What about the greek alphabet, is there something for five - I only know alpha beta... gamma? Hmm :rolleyes:

I tried thinking of things associated with the number 5. I don't know if its what you were after, but it might lead you to a less literal interpretation. So here goes my mad (but by no means exhaustive list):

5 is the fifth Fibonacci number, the sequence which produces the golden ratio ... could do something compositionally to represent the golden ratio, or find it in nature e.g. unfurling fern (which also gives me the idea of the 5 petals of a rose)

5 is a V in Roman numerals ... maybe there's something there, the first obvious one that comes to mind is the v formation of flying geese

E is the fifth letter of the alphabet ... maybe a set of 5 images incorporating E

THere are 5 pillars of Islam

The 5 elements

In the Greek Orthodox tradition 5 is the symbol for the Holy Spirit ... maybe 5 doves

Five is the fewest number of moves a pawn makes to a queening square in chess

There are 5 oceans

There are 5 senses and 5 tastes

The fifth sign of the Zodiac is Leo, i.e. the Lion (off to the zoo :rolleyes: )
