Has anybody flown Southwest Airlines? I have booked a trip with them from Long Island, New York to Oakland CA. Do they have any inflight entertainment for such a long flight?

No entertainment. Bring stuff with you, or buy snacks on board.

Think of them as a friendlier version of Ryanair.

Yeah, there's nothing, no entertainment except what you can see out the window. Five-dollar subs and five-dollar beers.

I flew them five years ago from Houston to San Francisco and I remember I bought a hot chicken roll, bit into it, and a jet of molten barbecue sauce shot from the other end all over my lap.

I flew with them a few years ago. Packet of raisins job! The crew did their best to entertain us - "It is a Federal offence to smoke on this plane. In the toilets it is an offence to interfere with the smoke detector - or the video camera." This kind of banter. Also the pilot discussed at length the relationships of the crew, who was doing who, and how etc.

    A good laugh.

Very 70's decor on the plane we were on, orange/brown leather seats

I've flown with them a few times in the last couple of years.
Very much like Ryanair, but nice people and you get a packet of peanuts.

Nice new planes too, which helps.

Only flew with them on one hour flights.

    No problems.
