I was telling Fajitas about this bloke last night... thought I'd share the link on here:

Fack to Bront - Scotland and the Scots

His pictures continue to amaze me, he's actually only been at this photography malarkey for less than a year. And I even recognise quite a few of the locations of his shots in Glasgow :)

    Hello
Just wondering from you digital photo people.... those photos are amazing... but there is some overriding postprocessing /effect filter / something that gives them this certain 'look'

Can anyone fill me in as to what is being done here... it it lens/camera or photoshop etc...

    Any info appreciated..

    -Al

It does look like there is some kind of action used on some of the portraits alright - either that or just some adjustments to give them that look - dont know how it was done though.

He does put his workflow on some of them, if you hover over the image you'll see that it has comments and it'll usually be a box in the top left. Hover over that and you'll see what he did in PS.

 theres no way hes been doin photography less than a year. he must have sum art history / background - a hint of fine art off his stuff. one talented guy, but its all down to input, experimentation and imagination. heres my effort at a replica........:o

    very good...

This is one of my favourites on deviant art... has that same 'feel'

    http://www.deviantart.com/view/11162681/

Could you let us know how you post-processed that photo ?

    Help a newbie ;-)

Also on topic... anyone know of any good Photoshop etc courses in Dublin, see lots for photography but im interested in specifically photo manipulation courses I guess rather than "an introduction to photoshop"

thanks. i got real pissed off last night when i looked at his stuff and went mental in photoshop until i got near what he did. thats my way of learning i suppose! its a funny thing with photoshop. weve got so many tools at hand but its this mass of stuff that intimidates us into not experimenting more. he must spend hours on each image in fairness. it would be so hard to explain how i did it (as you can imagine in photoshop theres no easy way of explaining how you do things) but he does list on some of his images the tools he used to do it (which is a lovely gesture by him in fairness). experiment experiment experiment :)

nice effort fajitas ! apparently it looks like a new generation of photography is emerging, where people like to see worked up images all the time now. not necessarily a bad thing but kinda funny

Yeah...Usually wouldn't do an excessive amount of PS, but it is fun, and enjoyable! As geeky as it sounds, doing that this morning was good craic (And took my mind away from a hangover and 3 other people sleeping in my room...College ball last night!)

There's an interesting interview the guy here, it's quite good to read about what his influences are. I can't believe he hasn't had more stuff published in magazines and what not already.

I like the post processing - it allows you to express yourself even more creatively because you can't always put across what was originally in your mind when taking the shot just straight from the camera.
