This is probably very easy to fix!

Whenever I go to a page like ryanair.com or aerlingus.com, FF presumes I'm in the UK, and not Ireland - all the prices are in £, and the default airports are in the UK.
How can I change this? IE recognises me as being in Ireland.

On ryanair.com the irish link is at the top right. Just click on the flag to change to €. Same for Aerlingus.com, just change the country at the top.

No, I know that, but that's not the issue.
When I visit those pages using IE, they're automatically set up as Ireland, when I visit them with FF they are set up as UK.

Firefox displays € as default for me.

Maybe you set them up in IE once, and the cookies remember the next time you visit. Do the same with Firefox (change to euro).

Check if you're running through a proxy in Firefox but not running through one in IE.

just checked mine... on the aerlingus start page, the low fares are displayed in £, but if I try to book a trip from dublin, prices are in euro. Same in IE.

Site's generally check a number of variables to figure out where you might be from. Two thing's I'd look at:

1/ Type about:config into ff and see what intl.accept_languages variable says.
2/ They may also be using geoip mapping software - see where you're IP is though to reside @ http://www.hostip.info/. Although that said IE should also be using this IP address so that's probably not it.

    ****EDIT about:config instead of about:location************

Currency display when you book a trip will always defult to the country of origin - try the same trip from London to Dublin and you'll see £

Are you using NTL BB? as far as I can see when you're on the net with NTL BB you're going thru a proxy that misleads these websites into thinking you're IP address is a UK one. Delete all your cookies and type in www.google.com into Internet Explorer and see if it changes to www.google.co.uk. If it does, you're being routed through a UK proxy by your BB provider. I don't think there's a setting in Firefox to specify what currency is displayed.

    Yes, you're right!
Only happens with FF though, which is a shame - IE can handle it no problem :(

Thanks for that - had the same problem myself, couldn't figure out what the story is. My FF settings were "en-gb,en", so I changed it to "en-ie,en-gb,en" and that seems to have worked a treat.

Ah, I wondered why Aerlingus always presumed I was in the US, the language variable was set to en-us. Just changed it to en-ie and it works fine now. I thought it was something to do with the IP address before, but no.

Follow the steps I've posted to change the default search to .ie instead of .com
