Four weeks ago you suggested the talks would be happening by now. What happened?

In a not-so-veiled reference to Tuesday evening's breakdown of negotiations
between telecommunications operators and incumbent Eircom, Minister Dempsey
made a side-swipe at BT which withdrew from the talks.

"In the context of recent events I repeat: nothing is ever accomplished from
walking away from discussions. All parties should resume their discussions
immediately with the goal of achieving full local loop unbundling," he said.
Dempsey bemoaned the lack of progress and demanded that full agreement should be reached within a four week period.

It is expected that Minister Dempsey will initiate conciliation talks with BT executives later on Thursday.

Noel is in no hurry to talk about the 57.75% Household Coverage Figure for DSL either.
