Well I was at Anfield a couple of weeks ago for Liverpools last home game and took a lot of snaps with my Cannon S2 IS, I'm still getting to grips with it but I thought this was a good snap. Let me know what you think?

Deadly!! Was thinking of the new S3 as a carry all the time job. What do you think of the camers?

Also not sure if you noticed but if you have a look in the back left of the photo you will see Rick Parry and David Moores along with Chris De Burg.

Valentia, I like the Cannon its got great zoom for its size and the quality is excellent. I havne't had much time to get the best out of it, I found some of sport photos are blurred but I'm sure with the right settings that can be sorted.

I used to have the S1, sold it to my mate... Still think of it as the best cameras i've ever had r used... It does everything n does it bloody well. The S3 looks sweet.. Im using a Sony R1 at the mo n love it but u cant beat the S* for their size and amount of features... Its a brilliant camera n a half decent Vid cam in one..

Not bad, but your focus is the wrong way round. You have him out of focus and the crowd in focus. Never used the S2 before but I would imagine its autofocus got confused by the movement and focused on the easiest thing it could (the static background). An SLR is what you need here.

Its still a nice shot, but not as easy on the eye, since the focus is unnatural (in real life our eyes would focus on the subject and the background would go out of focus)

Yea I noticed that wicknight but in one way I like the way the crowd are easily visible, The autofocus can play havoc with moving objects.

Nice pic of God Mk2, what I notice in such shots is that the crowd look like slightly dis-interested observers yet I bet the noise was loud enough at the time, so is that all West ham fans! ;)

Looks to me as if he's actually in focus - he's on the same plane as the disembodied arm on the left there which is sharp. I think it's just that he's blurred because of the movement. I doubt that the aperture would be wide enough with a compact to actually give a noticeable DOF there.

I think it's a cracking shot considering it was a point and shoot job. Just imagine what you could do with a SLR :)

elven is right. Looking at the EXIF the shutter speed was 1/125th of a second which is too slow to stop the movement. His boot is in focus as it has reached the top of it's flight and stopped just as the pic was taken.

I like gawking at the faces too.

Odd that the EXIF doesn't give the ISO? Next time put the ISO at 400 and that will increase the shutter speed at the expense of some noise.

    Good shot!

Thanks for the suggestion of changing the ISO I'll try that and see how it goes, tbh what impressed me the most about it was how I managed center him in the shot. He was moving very quick.

It's a cracking shot, great viewpoint. initially I also thought that the focus was 'back to front' but right enough, Stevie G's movement is just really fast ;)

Probably the greatest footballer in the world ;) That Brazilian lad at Barca can't play in the rain! :)
