    Hi,

I am trying to get my hands on a cheap bike charger,I am forever leaving the parking lights on and running down the battery.I know Lidl had them a few weeks ago but I never go a chance to pop in and pick one up.

I don't see anything in the Argos book.

get urself an Optimate. Only about €40. Should be able to get em in any bike shop.
You can fit a connector permanently on the bike, and just plug it in. Also will save ur battery if its a bit dodgy.

I may ring around about the Optimate tomorrow, off hand do you know of a shop that definitely has them....?

They do, although I think the one i saw was more like 60. It was on the ground floor in a case at the parts section.

I bought mine off www.wemoto.com - Delivery is a little slow at over a week but prices are alright.

Any 12V trickle charger will do. You want a charge rate of about 1 amp. Shouldn't be more than a tenner in your local stereos-n-furry-dice shop.

I'm raptured by the joy of it all.

Buy an optimate, they may not be the greatest thing ever but ork , an intelligent charger does more than just hose power into a battery

I find the Optimate excellent. I leave my bike parked up a good bit, and I just leave the optimate plugged into it and know my bike will start, even after 3 weeks with the alarm on.

...I use a 'smart charger' too, but it's cheaper than the Optimate. It's called the Banner Bikemate (I think...), and it's a 900mA unit - I leave my bike on it permanent, and it's great.

You should be able to get them from here - I think I paid.......40?...for mine

Make sure to check your local Lidl as they still have some of that bike stuff in the one in Blanch. You might get lucky. I got one and it's feckin great, nice slow trickle, even charges large car batteries no probs.

PS:For anybody intrested This is the model they are selling.

You won't really get any benefit from these 'smart chargers' if your bike is in regular use. They're great for a 2nd bike, or a bike laid up over winter though.

Well I have a car as well and the bike is often not used for a week or two.
