Quickest Route?

Im looking for a bit of advice here for getting to work. :)

Im living in Sandymount, so the way I go is Dart into town, get off at pearse st., walk up to Stephens green and then Luas out to Sandyford...in total the journey usually takes an hour.

The main reason being, if I miss the 7.55 dart in the morning, there isn't another one till 8.15 (20 minute wait for a train in effectively rush hour every morning...Yeay! Go Irish efficency!) which can leave me late for work if I don't leg it up to the luas. :o

I hear you can get the Dart out to Blackrock and then the bus to Sandyford.

Does anyone know what bus you get from Blackrock, how often does it come in the morning, where does it leave you in Sandyford and how long would the journey take from Sandymount? :)

    Thanks in advance for help.

You could try taking the 18 from Sandymount to the triangle in Ranelagh, then change onto LUAS. With the new QBC along Merrion Road and part of Pembroke Road, it might actually be pretty quick, even at that hour.

I think it is the 114 to Sandyford. It is ~every 30 mins on the hour. Check the Dublin Bus website, it is either the 114, 115 or 17.

I assume you need to be in by 9.

You could get the Dart to Blackrock and the 114 (08.30) or 115(08.25) to Sandyford. I would think the 114 would be quicker but both should get you there by 9.

Alternatively you could walk to the Merrion Road and get the route 5 bus (08.05 from the city, should be at RDS 08.15-08.20ish), that should get to Sandyford before 9 also.

They all go into the estate, 5 and 115 go past the Luas and 114 comes in from Leopardstown road.

18 to Ranelagh and luas might not be a bad route either.

The only way is to try them out and see. Going through town seems like the slowest route though.

There is a 5 that passes the merrion centre at ~8.25.
