Reporting Dodgy Porn Guy to guards

I know the dodgy porn guy post topic was deleted as was my post asking what happened to it. This will probably be deleted too. But I have been seriously considering reporting the poster to the guards as it was suggested that he/she may have been engaged at looking at child porn. While this was not clarified by the OP, he/she had ample opportunity to clarify. It is such a sick issue that I do not think it is right to ignore it and do nothing about simply because the topic has been deleted. This attitude of "someone else will do something" is what allows people to get a way with all sorts of nefarious activities.

What does any one else think? It is really bothering me as I feel that if there is even a slight chance that the OP was engaged in looking at child porn then it is my (and everyone elses) moral duty to report it.

Especially since in the guardian today was a piece about how a bunch of paedophiles were caught after a reporter followed up on a piece of graffiti asking young girls to contact a certain number for sex. it didnt sit right with the reporter and the Topic that was deleted does not sit right with me.

I didn't read all of the replies to the topic but from what I read a number of posters were jumping to that conclusion. There is no proof that the poster was looking at child porn. He may have been looking at animal porn as one poster suggested. If you report him to the guards and he is innocent his reputation will still be destroyed. Would you like to destroy someone's life just because you jumped to the wrong conclusion?

Yea, why don't you call homeland security while your at it - he's probably a terrorist as well.

Someone said they were looking at dodgy porn. Someone else jumped to a conclusion, and now you want to report it to the gaurds. What doesn't sit right with me is, why you are posting this in Personal Issues? ...in fact, why are you posting this at all??

I suggest you take it to feed back.

The guy said that he was going to go to the gards, because he felt some of it might be a bit dodgy. Doesn't seem like there's much left for anyone else to do. If the Garda Siochana can't work out that someone who's told them he thinks he may have some dodgy porn might have some dodgy porn, then there's hardly much more we can do to assist the investigative process.

Rest assured that if we were to assist the Garda Siochana with an investigation, we wouldn't be giving you the blow-by-blow.
