Are Sky still insisting on a Phone connection on the new HD boxes? I want to get on in the next few months but we're using VOIP now and don't have a phoneline. Does the box cost more if there's no phone connection?

I think you may not get the free install but as the box itself is not free I cant see how they can insist on phoneline

Are you using an ATA with VoIP? If you're not doing any highbandwidth stuff on your connection at the time, there's no reason why the modem call from the sky box through VoIP won't work.

Many VOIP codecs don't support modems/fax. If an ATA supports Fax, it *MAY* support Sky Modem

Well, the modern standard for VoIP is G.711. I'm using this with modems, fax, sky box, etc. It is the same codec used by the PSTN network and ISDN lines. There's "no" (little) lag cause there's no compression. The downside is that it takes more bandwidth then other codecs, up to 84 Kbps including all TCP/IP overhead. However, as I said before, if you're noting doing highbandwith stuff on your net connection then that should be no problem.
