    Hi all,

I'm thinking of signing up for digiwebs metro service.

I'm wondering would anyone with the service be able to ping and tracert sip.blueface.ie for me so see what the quality is like.

Better still if someone did a ping to 194.213.29.1 which as far as I know is the route that blueface sends it voice data (rather than signal data).

Many thanks in advance for any help.

A friend of mine uses a few voip providers with metro (not blueface) and has no quality issues with voip, so i imagine that Blueface would be the same.

I have done a test vpn connection to work and then used a sip softphone to connect to our pbx on digiweb metro and the quality calling internal extensions was perfect.

Folks. Digiweb is installing today in my home in Killiney which should(?) have service from 3-Rock transmitter. In the next weeks I will test it for broadband (compared to my existing Eircom ADSL 1Meg). I will also test it for my existing VOIP provider (Freespeech.ie).
And you will be the first to know how good/bad it is!

    Thanks Overlander,

I'm getting installed (hopefully!) myself today - Collins Barracks (Cork).

Digiweb's professionals did a good job of installing the antenna on the chimney and drilled the wall with co-ax. It looks like internet connection is just as good as Eircom's 1MB product. The speedtest.ie results are attached.
Eircom's 1MB ADSL wass giving me 103KBPS up and 725KBps down
Digiweb's gave me 251/856k and 254/892KBPS on the two days I tested it. What's impressive is that the second time I tested it I was on the Digiweb phone line at the same time.
HOWEVER: Digiweb's technical support seemed confused about the installation and we still don't know if the phone is working right. I fear that they don't yet know how to do a reliable phone service.
    In Summary:
Farewell Eircom at €24 line rental and€36 ADSL ==€60
Hello Digiweb at €20 for the same service!
More later when we sort out the phone.

WEll the broadband may work but the phone service won't dial fixed line numbers unless they're mobile. Also you have to use the 01 prefix even if you're dialing from inside 01.
WE tried to contact Digiweb's call centre and they dont's seem to be contactable at the moment. wE left a message a few days ago but nobody called back.
Sounds like a complete mess. Maybe they're watching the world cup?
Also with my Voip phone the quality is not great, possibly not as good as with Ericom's DSL because the upling speed is too slow.

I'd say they are swamped with all the Metro Lite offers.
So far I'm very happy with Metro and Blueface.

Try as I may, Digiweb support haven't fixed my phone. It has been almost a month. It is unclear whether they've even tried.
If someone calls in, sometimes the caller can't hear it ring and it being answered. If I call out to a national number (but not a mobile) it may or may not complete the call.
    Anyone got a similar problem?

My understanding is that Digiweb gives you the phone "service" as a bonus and does not guarantee that it will work. Crazy stuff I know.

They changed to the second PSTN port on the router and we are testing it. But a call failed yesterday too. So we continue to test and to email them.
This is the One month anniversary of Digiweb's amateur efforts.

Digiweb support told me that a lot of customers have the same problem as mine. they did a major firmware upgrade at the weekend and it may have helped some problems but I still can't call the house and I got cut off while on 2 calls yesterday.
And Digiweb don't seem to have their support phone number 1890940405 on their website anymore... So when I got through to the sales line the salesperson lket it slip that the "phone service on METRO LITE doesn't work too well" and that I should UPGRADE and spend some more money.
This is contrary to the information on thier website, which sells a working phone service with no caveats.
So next we need to get our mone back and go to BT for phone + broadband for €35 or something like that... well at least it will work!
