Where to buy lead (as in heavy stuff)

Sorry, this is about fishing, but I think it will get a better response here.
I'm thinking of making my own lead weights for sea fishing, can get a mould and eyelets etc. on Ebay for a few Euro.

Anyone know where to pick up some lead for melting and casting?
Scrap metal merchant seems the obvious place, but how much should I expect to pay?

    Thanks.

Yeah, was thinking about that, thanks.
I'm sure you can buy stuff for roof flashing etc.

Old wheel balancing weights from tyre suppliers. Offcuts from roofers if you know any. Be extreamly careful melting lead, don't do it unless you 100% know what you're doing. If you do a search on the fourm on this site you'll get a lot of useful info;)

    How about a model shop?
They sell lead for melting to make figures...
They will even have the stoves/pans/holders/etc for doing the whole job.

    Hi,

I may have a few valoleys lying around, I'll check the stores and get back to you.

We used to sell the lead but scrap yards are getting fewer by the day.

    Mr Sedaka:

I think that I have a lump of old flashing up in my shed next to my minnow net. You are more than welcome to it. What beers do you want me to bring on the fishing trip?

That would be great Pete, really appreciate it.

Hill Billy, I'll gladly take your lead and happily repay your kind gesture with a can of gellied eels and a copy of the late, Walter Smiddons "How to outsmart lions"

Oh, and any beer that's remotely in date is good!
    Cheers.
