    hi all,

im just wondering on the perlico.com website for example, when i check my line for bb, does this check it via an external site?

    this is the url? http://www.perlico.com/internet/11/perlico-broadband

it looks like it checks it via perlico website and reopens in the same window?

Does anyone know does it go off to another website to check the line for bb?

There is a database of lines that have been checked by Eircom with the pass/fail result for those lines. Eircom provide this list to all the bitstream resellers. All they're doing is checking your number in this database, no actual test is done.

thanks for the prompt reply mate, would this database be off the perlico site itself so? i have the perlico site open up but cant seem to check bb unless i have access to all other internet sites, i only have restricted access and perlico would be one of the sites open

I'd imagine it's held on their server. Unless of course they are comparing your number to a database on and Eircom server. I'm not sure but I would have thought that they would have their own copy of the database.

Maybe your browser is blocking the script that they use to check? Have you dissabled Javascript by any chance?

yea exactly i would have thought it would have been held on the server also, it's not the browser because i can gain full internet access on the same system and once access has been gained i can check the line no prob, thats what was making me think it was off site
