Ok, I tried it last year and didn't succeed...everyone at work was talking about it, i believe the phrase is 'watercooler TV'.
I couldn't jouin in on the conversation and couldn't just listen 'cause I didn't know the characters.

And today, although I was doing well as I hadn't seen a single soul on the bloody thing, two at work were cracking up over it and showed me stuff on the internet.

After being advised to watch it tonight, I duly turned over to ch 4 at 9.50 pm and was BORED TO tears......thank God I can still pretend to occupy the moral high ground..
    All high-brow stuff for me,
    So:
    [*]no soaps
    [*]no reality TV
    [*]no Big Brother
[*]No ibiza or anywhere else uncovered
    [*]very little wife swap
    [*]and lots of panorama
    [/LIST]

    God I'm such a hypocrite...
I am currently fascinated by Porn: A Family Business...un-be-lieve-a-ble! (here you should imagine the guy in the Princess Bride saying inconceivable)
It's the freakiest thing i've seen in a good long while, it's actually melted a part of my brain by trying to fathom the whole thing
    Has anyone else seen this?

I made a concious attempt to avoid it this year yet I was kinda tempted to watch the Russel Brand forums show. At the last minute I decided against even that too as I'd suspect that might drag me into the whole BB malarky again.

You still hear bits here and there like that "Shazbazz is the main headwrecker" but at least I can live happy in the knowledge that I don't know who or what a Shazbazz is and tbh I'm not missing knowing said in the slightest.

Of course having a helpful cousin and the fact that the worldcup is on this year will make BB avoidance all the easier. :)

Im an avid fan, as you can tell from my sig. But this is the first year that I can't get into it. I haven't really had time to watch much of it so far but any bit I do is sh!t.

The simplest way to avoid Big Brother is to remove C4, E4 and E4+1 from ur TV for the next number of weeks.

It is because the show is ****.

Also I know the poster is trying to aviod BB but wouldn't it be better to put this thread in the Big Brother Forum. So that we can all avoid even mentioning the show.

To answer the initial question. If you have a life and don't watch TV, yes! I thought that show ended years ago, I saw about 10 minutes of it a few years back. Shocked that people could watch such ****e.

i just detune C4 and E4 for the summer months and just read non tabloid papers, it's the best way of avoiding the tripe.

I have managed to avoid it every year since 2001. I refuse to watch both c4 + e4 for 3 months and I dont buy tabloids anyway. When people talk about it in work, I just tune out.

I haven't seen any of it yet, and I don't intend watching any of it. It's Crap!

Can't stand it either but like the OP says, it's "watercooler TV" (or as I call it "life for those with none of their own" so it's impossible to avoid it completely.

Best year of BB thus far was the first year of E4 because it hadn't been added to NTL yet and not everyone had Sky at that stage.. ahh.. bliss! :D
