So put a bid on a Sky+ Box on ebay, if i buy this box is it possible for me to set it up/install it myself (have a quad LNB and proper Co-Ax) and get full functionality ? have an irish sub card (full sub Sky World) - rang Sky they it cost me 299+ 75 for install? so would this way work, ie. 2nd Sky+ Box....any ideas Watty?

if you have Sky World then just ring Sky and ask them to enable the Sky+ features. should be active a few minutes :)

that easy? so i dont require a new card from sky then...am i right in saying then that i have to stay with one premium channel or an extra charge applies?

Ring Sky up and threaten to cancel .
Tell them that you think the subscription price is too expensive and you see new subscribers getting great deals on Sky +
They will almost certainly offer it to you at a greatly reduced price ,prob €75.
Stick to your guns and hold firm.
Sky dont want to lose customers .
In the last 15 months I've paid half price for 12 months ,€27 instead of 54.
They will offer you a deal.
The current deal is superb, its 66p per month for the Sports package (normally €54).
Its for 2 months ,World Cup tie in,1966 .;)
I was offered it but then they said I wasnt eligible ( prob because I live in Ireland ) but I got half price for 3 months instead.
Price of a phone call is all it costs.

you will need to stick to at least 2 premium Sky channels for the Sky+ functionality to work
the premium channels are Sky Sports 1, Sky Sports 2, Sky Movies 1, Sky Movies 2

Other Sky Movie channels and Sky Sports channels are bonus channels

    hope that makes sense

Bjorn, I have an old 40GB Sky+ box you can have for nothing if your eBay bid is unsuccessful. It's just taking up room in my house... send me a message.

    Bjorn!
You say 'rang Sky they it cost me 299+ 75 for install'.
    Are we talking €'s.
Ok I am in the UK but I would not pay anymore than £99 for a Sky+ box. I wonder did the Customer Rep think you were after a HD box.

I can't believe a Sky+ box and instalation could cost the €374.00 in Ireland
You did say you have quad LNB. I presume the dish has been previously set up?

i would assume he meant € but even €299 for Sky+ is way too much considering what Sky are offering atm

It can cost even more if you bear in mind that indepenedents do not get a subsidy for sky+. 374 would be an average upgrade price from standard sky.
