Be very grateful if any of you can offer any help with this, after a few months absence I decided to have another bash at MTW at a harder level, and it wouldn't play ball couldn't load / start new single player game , was fine with a single battle / historical battle but would either crash or return to menu when I tried a single player.

So, reinstalled, uninstalled, reinstalled , downloaded the patches and still nada. Can't find anything on this online and MTW support is a nightmare.

I recall having troubles when i first tried to install, but must have solved it ! , any ideas ?

    Apologies if this belongs elsewhere

I assume you mean it crashes when trying to start a new campaign? There seems to be a lot of problems with the campaign map and newer drivers/cards. Try the following:
    • If you're running an NVidia card set AA to x2.
    • Running M:TW in the lowest resolution it supports.
    • Changing the audio hardware acceleration level in your DirectX control panel (try no acceleration first).
    • As a last resort use older drivers.
M:TW was always unstable for me on any hardware configuration, especially in late game. I don't believe I have ever completed the main campaign due to stability problems (and the fact that late game drags worse than Civ 2).
