Ok so first off, apologies if this has been done before (no search function available at the mo.)

Guess this is one for the girls...

    Barbie V Sindy.

    Which did you prefer? Why?

Personally I was a Barbie girl. Sindy looked too cheap. It was like her head was too big or something. :)

Sindy ftw. Barbie was too American for me.

My sister was into Barbie though, so we had both

I liked Barbie but my sister liked the enormous headed Sindy!!

There is woman in my business park that looks just like Sindy. The huge massive forehead and everything. She is a pretty woman but still looks like Sindy from the 70s

I had one Barbie doll and the rest were Sindys, so I have to say Sindy. Yeah so she had a massive head, but it got smaller through the years. The first Sindy I got in the 80's had a massive head and huge eyes!

Me and my sister had generic dolls, no Sindy or Barbie for us. Though our crazy dolls did have heads attached by elastic bands!

The only brand dolls we had were Lady Lovelylocks ones. They were so pretty and had so much hair.

I preferred Sindy, but I can't remember why. She had flat feet, maybe that was it...

I was a barbie girl. My mother bought me a new barbie every year up until i was 14 because it was tradition! I kept every single one and all the clothes but when i turned 18 and moved out of home, she took them out of the attic and gave them away on me!

Though I loved her dearly, Sindy was like Barbie's cheap cousin. It was much easier to lose Sindy's head, her clothes were mediocre, I always had to rob Ken on her behalf because Sindy didn't have a steady boyfriend. Poor Sindy, try as she might, she was no Barbie..

Sindy did have a steady boyfriend! I can't think of his name though... Eric, maybe?

/edit: He was called Paul. He had brown hair.

I preferred Sindy. No idea why. Probably because I had brown hair too and no boobs :D unlike Barbie

I preferred Sindy - Barbie was too orange. In fact, she may be responsible for today's oompa-loompa phenomenon! Grr!

oh me too Sindy all the way. Still dont know why though think it was Barbie was too artificial looking.

It was Sindy for me and all my sisters. Her body was way more believable than Barbie.

Sindy for me...Barbie was just too pointy plastic ,perfect.

Barbie!!!! Oh how I loved her. Sindy was too fat

ha! ya barbie's measurements were ridiculous, Apparently they related Barbie's measurements to a real woman's and if Barbie were real, she would be 8ft tall, with lolo-pop breasts, a 12" waist, no hips and she wouldnt be able to stand up cos her feet were too small!

I had a Barbie and a few Sindys (giant head version) and I prefered Barbie cause she was prettier. I loved her lovely blonde hair and small-featured face. Sindy looked too 'normal'. BTW I dont look like a Barbie doll now - my tastes have changed!
But Barbie is detrimental - I was upset when I couldnt be the same colour as her after a day in the sun - is Barbie to blame for skin cancer??!

My Sindy had a very steady boyfriend - My brother's Action Man - the Eagle Eyes one with blonde hair and eyes that moved... My brother hated it when I stole his action man - I remember once he went completely mental because I put pyjamas on him "ACTION MAN DOESN'T WEAR PYJAMAS!!! ARE YOU MAD??!!!"

    Memories.........

Sindy all the way - I had a Sindy with real eyelashes - she was much prettier than Barbie and Sindy could bed anyway, not like Barbs.

Sindy has an array of boyfriends including a smaller BA Barracus, Murdock, Action Man and a golliwog 3 times her size.

My Barbies and Sindys were all passed down from my older cousins and they had no Kens or Pauls so my golliwog who was also 3 times as big as each girl had a harem of fabulous women!
Barbie was my favourite, she had better clothes, although the only accessory I got was a Sindy scooter with an electrical light but unfortunately a very short cord, so she didn't go many places, although she stormed off alot on it, when Barbie stole Jack Black (the golliwog)

Yep my golliwog was just called 'golly'. He always had a smile on his face - probably because he had one brunette, one blond and one *punky looking sindys.

which one had the bigger boobies and the smaller waist which should have made her snap in half?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 317 ✭✭athena 2000

Barbie was the one that looked like she'd snap in half. I had Barbie, Ken, Skipper, Pepper and who knows what else! My cousin and I sewed clothes for them, and I managed to get them in Barbie's MG roadster and get it "vrooming" around the room with a string tied to the bumper. Unfortunately my brother broke the back axle & the wheels fell off. He killed the car. Dammit. Makes me laugh now.

    Probably butch Sindy

Sindy was way too domesticated. All her outfits, which were generally very dull, came with aprons. But she had great furniture. Barbie had fabulous outfits but crap furniture. I got Sindys first, but then discovered Barbie - no contest. The Sindys became the staff and the Barbies were awful bitches too them. But it was always Sindy furniture that I got. It was class. The fridge was the biz!

Sindy was much cooler and more classy looking than Barbie.

Sindy was like a classic beauty like ELizabeth Taylor or Julie Christie.

Barbie reminds me of the fake 'beauties' of today like Paris Hilton or something, a bit like a tranny.

    Sindy :)

Whoa, is that some kind of crazy 70's Sindy? The Sindy's I had were almost the same as Barbie but with flat feet and different eye colour.

That's such a pretty picture of Barbie...

This is more like my Sindy:

Oh yeah. I remember - probably around the mid or late eighties - Hasbro (the My Little Pony company) bought the Sindy brand and completely vamped her up - basically turned her into a Barbie clone.

Barbie, definately!! I only had one Sindy and she was actually my first of either doll, so it's strange that my allegiance lies the other way, lol. But i only bouht Barbies after that. i think Sindy was kinda odd-shaped

(yea i kno, coz Barbie's shape is sooo realistic, lol)
