Stupid Question....

Sorry about this and mods feel free to delete if it's too stupid but...
I normally play online, stumbled into the fitzwilliam one night and played a cash table, bought in for 50 euro and lost it all but thats another story. In hindsight when I got home I thought I hadn't seen the house taking a cut of the pot at each hand. Did I just miss it? Or do they take a cut from cashed chips when a winner leaves?

While i'm asking stupid questions, is there an ettiquette regarding leaving a cash table when your winning?

    Thanks

they will take a "small" piece of every pot to pay for the rake its about 38 euro per half hour i think, open to correction. if your new to cash games its something youll live to see and hate :)

yes - always leave when you are winning. Preferably the hand before it's your big blind and when you have just sucked out on AA with 72o because you "had a feeling".

oh and don't forget to loudly proclaim how you will immediately blow "youse sucker's" cash on coke and lapdancers.

That's the classy way to do it.....

As mentioned above, yes there is a rake taken from all pots, buts dealers are used to doing this during play so you would not notice if you were not watching it, and lets face it, it isn't the dealers you should be paying attention to most of the time.

As regards etiquette when winning, a lot of people don't bother with this, but personally if I am leaving I will usually make some sort of 'I'll leave after my button'. or 'one more round' type statement with about 5 or 6 hands to go til then. If you want to ensure that you leave with your money intact then fold every hand or if you want to look like you aren't just sitting on your money call a couple of hands but don't get involved. Sounds a bit stupid, but if you are worried about people accusing you of being a hit and run, and there are plenty of bitter people who do say this and mean it in a snide way, especially at the Fitz Hold'Em games, then this will help somewhat.

Alternatively, just stand up, say 'g'luck lads, talk to ye again, I'm heading' and cash out whenver you feel like it. Doing it immediately after a big hand (i.e before the next one is dealt), would annoy most people to be honest, but hey, it is your money.

Also, there are no stupid questions here, only ones you do not know the answer to. There are, however, stupid answers though.

Cheers lads, thats everything I needed to know about cash games but was afraid to ask! Sure if ye see me on the tables some time i'll be happy to repay the favour!
