Just wondering what peoples thoughts are on the standard of facilities at our Tracks. The viewing facilities have improved a lot with revamping of stands at a lot of courses and some improvements in general.
I have to say the catering end of things is still not great,as the Restaurants in most tracks resemble soup kitchens with long Q's of hungry punters.

Fav tracks :Punchestown /Curragh(for the racing)
    Least fav:Tramore/Galway

Leopardstown is the best view in my opinion

I'm not overly impressed with any of the Irish racecourses to be honest, their facilities leave a lot to be desired when compared to some of the UK courses. Our biggest courses The Curragh and Leopardstown look much the same as they did 30 years ago. I'm hoping the renovation of the Curragh will be the start of a vast improvement in facilities across the country.

Probably the best of a bad bunch facility and modernisation wise would be Fairyhouse, at least it doesn't look like an oversized garden shed from the 30's.

I like Navan for viewing - becasue of the nature of the track and the fact it slopes down and away from the betting ring, you can get a good view of every part of the track from most parts of the stand.

The seldom used Bellewstown leaves a lot to be desired, but it amazing for atmosphere.

Whoever got the contract to provide all those disgusting carvery rolls at nearly all the tracks in Ireland is making a killing - financially and physically.

Got to be the most over-priced piece of fast food available anywhere.

Hot beef rolls at Leopardstown are rank, I nearly got sick trying to eat one at the Irish Champion stakes

They are disgusting. And really expensive too. There is an ok resturant around the other side, but it is expensive too.

Only been to Punchestown and Leopardstown, Punchestown is the best mainly because of the size of the facility and the viewing is generally good.

Been to Leophardstown twice, once at a coporate event mid year and during christmas week. Thought the banqueting suites were very good, food decent enough,(no veggi option tho') +little Tote desk in the corner so very handy. Good day out.

The general admission that 10 lads bought during the 'Paddy Powers day' ( i think?)day before the Lexus chase day this year was a different expierence altogether.
It was feckin freezin and u had the option of 1 crowded heavin bar(x1)
or 1 crowded heavin damp & scruffy nite club(x1) or stand outdoors freezin yur nuts off. and the rest of the stands& other (less crowded bar) was off limits to general admin ticket holders.

My mind gripe was the toilets there, was like 2 v small blocks totally overcrowded with a 10/15mins Q to get in door. Worse than some festivals/rock concerts i've been to.

In short the days racing is MAJORLY effected by which ticket u buy. Do not by the gen admission as u will be made to feel like the great unwashed masses that u are.....maybe i should have expect this from venue deep in South Co. Dublin. :D
Rooaaaigghtttt .....your sooooooo totally roight... etc etc.
