Just saw the details being proposed by the PRL to the RFU. Looks like it may well end up with the ERC being a bargaining chip here :(
"There still exists an opportunity to make a break-through in the course of the next few weeks, culminating in PRL's presentation of the Weston Plan to the RFU Council on 30th May."

Key features of the Weston Plan:

    England

    * The senior England Elite Playing Squad remains in England camp for the seven-week duration of Six Nations (so called 'blocking') and players are unavailable to play for their clubs.
    * 50 percent increase in extra training days with England.
    * England training camps before the autumn internationals in groups of 3 days, rather than 2, and one group of 4 days pre-season.
    * Arrangements for England preparation extended through until the 2011 World Cup.
    * An additional autumn international to be agreed every 4 years (starting with New Zealand in November 2006).

    Clubs

    * Compensation for extra England training days.
    * Clubs assume responsibility for the Anglo Welsh Cup and become the driving force for the financial development of the European Rugby Cup.
    * RFU support for the Club proposals on reform of European Rugby Cup (ERC) to generate greater financial income. The proposed reform centres on PRL Clubs becoming shareholders alongside the RFU and having greater say on commercial and financial performance.
    * A five-year agreement with the RFU for the end of season representative fixture against England and support for up to 2 post-season Premiership representative games.
