  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,506 ✭✭✭Shortstack

It starts at 8pm. 3 tables the last two weeks with a first prize of €1400-€1450. No toasties but that's because the reg is €10 less than any equivalent dealer dealt non casino tournament :)

25 last night, some more new faces a lone unlucky boardster in Gholimoli and only a few from Drogheda. It is following a similar pattern to the Monday Drogheda game which had 49 runners on Monday. Christy Smith and Junior chopped it up €950 each with 3rd getting €400 and 4th €200.

Ocallagh chopped it with Christy Smith (second chop in a row for Christy), Dub13 was 4th.

24 runners €2400 prizepool. NOt a bad number seeing as the texts never went out for some reason.

    quick report,

Great game, and I really liked the venue. There were 3 tables and a 5k starting stack. AA, KK and AK all paid off on dangerous boards and my stack gre to 15k (which is where it stayed until we got to 4 handed!).

I played one hand terribly against ntlbell. My read was way way off. I raised on the button with AT to 600 (3XBB). Up until this point I had been active enough. I had been making it 5X BB prior to this hand because 5XBB was getting called. Anyway, my raise was smaller than usual and I thought ntlbell picked up on that. He made it 1800 from the SB. Not enough to commit him, but enough to get rid of me.. He'd been making crafty re-raises all night with 9 high!! The raise stank of a re-steal and I pushed with AT.. He had KK..... wp! Back to 9k.

Our table broke and I joined Dub13 and Kevin Fitzpatrick. I got a few hands (AQ, KQ, 77, 22, AT) and knocked one lad out and took down the blinds with the rest. I bluffed off 8k stupidly and made it to the final table with my 15k intact. Short, but no alarms going off.. MrPillowTalk got rivered a few times to deny him a seat at the FT. Unlucky with the JJ Eoin!

I played very few hands as the other players were all getting involved in large pots. Christy Smith knocked out 2 players at the same time and we were down to the last 4. I still had 15k somehow. Average at this stage was 40k. The table tightened up. I grew fond of the button (sry Dub13!), made a few re-steals against the CL :). I don't know his name, but my timing against him was lucky... He was not in the mood to gamble his CL away so I kept on pushing against his raises.. All of a sudden I have 40k without showing a hand. Blinds were raised to 1500-3000 and Dub13 pushed for 18,500 on the button. I got lucky to find AJo on the BB and called. No help for Pauls KQ and I am chip leader.

The previous chip leader started to get short and he eventually raised half his stack only for me to find AQ! The one time he commits himself to the pot and I wake up with AQ.. When I announced raise he looked sick. Very few of his pre-flop raises got past me when we got to 4 handed.. My AQ held up against his QJ and I was heads up with Christy.

I took a lot of small pots but the blinds got high and I pushed with a flush draw. I got called by 2nd pair and we were even in chips. We decided to split the cash. €900 each :)

Great tourny, great dealers and very well run as always Mike!
Will be back next week to defend my semi-title!

Well done ocallagh some timely hands there!. Probably enough good players there to keep me away forever:) !.

On a different topic i was glad to see from the GJP website that the thursday €25 rebuy is now a €70+10 freezeout. Im going to play this soon. Heineken man et al will have to thread more carefully!. Im not sure when it changed to a freezeout but does anybody know what numbers the thursday game is getting these days?.

Congrats Niall you and Christy played a blinder.

This is a great tournament especially if you are up early the next morning.Nice structure = loads of play on the final table, which is always a good thing. This game is what has been badly missed on the Northside so hopefully it takes of.

I was happy with my own game last night,I did not get many hands so its always nice when you are card dead for most of the night but still make it into the money. If I had of won the race against Niall I would have been in great shape, you took your time to call Niall did you put me on a mid pair...?One strange hand happened on the other table when we were down to about 13,4 all inns 44 (low stack),55,JJ and AK (big stack). Not one player knocked out on this hand.

I will be back to this game.

Yeah Eoin was very unlucky had his JJ held up he would of went on to win it i'm sure.

4 on the river! sore thing.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,212 ✭✭✭MrPillowTalk

Yeah was a good game there last night lost big pots with JJ twice once on the multi all in hand where I had the best hand going in but basically had to dodge every card in the deck againt two under pairs and two over cards, nearly got there too :D

Also played a big pot before that when I had 12k and got a chaps 6k stack in on a 10 j q flop I had the set if J's but he had the k and a nine hit the river to knock me back. Niall and Christy played a good hu.

As I said when I sat down last night I wanted to get all the bad beats out of the way before Friday :D

I was talking to Mike about this,If I remember correctly tonight is the first freezeout.I think its a good move and I am going to try and play it a bit more now.Maybe Mike has changed the locales from gamblers to Poker players as I believe they asked for the change to a freezeout.

Not sure what structure Mike will go with for it,maybe he can post it here.
