Agreed. I've heard stories of cheap cards corrupting data or the contacts just not working. From people working in developers mind.

But then again, there'll be many a reply to prove me wrong.

I've just conducted a crude test with the 3 compact flash cards I have.

I set the camera(D70s) on continuous mode, aimed at the same target (same speed/aperture) counted the number of shots before the camera started to slow :-

    Sandisk(ordinary blue label)512 - 23
    Kingston Elite Pro 512 - 19
    7DayShop/no brand 1GB - 12

Again this was a very crude test, don't know if it means anything

aye thats bout right from what i remember, but realisticly, have you ever needed more than 12 shots in continueous mode? the buffer on the camera is where the data is stored, and written in 'down time' to the card

Yup unless you use burst a lot, for sports or whatever, apart from the worry about reliability then I don't know whart 'performance' issues there are...

I have that exact card, use it a Coolpix S6 and a pda, absolutlely no problems with. Also use 7DS's "cheap" CF's in the D70, have put thousands of pics over 3 1Gig cards, never let me down.

Sure they wont be as fast as the more expensive ones, but then when you're buying a fast card, for the cheaper DSLR's wont they be overkill?!

And the little wallets for cards they sell are great!

That's good to hear anyway, reliability not speed would be my own concern.Hard to pass them up at the price even if only to have as a spare.

My 7Day one shows up as Toshiba under properties on the PC,so at least it's a well known brand.
