    Hi all,

Just wondering what would happen if someone purchased a car but the seller refused to send on vehicle registration cert (let's assume the're not disputing ownership of said vechicle, just that they are too lazy etc to provide cert saying ownership had changed hands).

Could an individual get a vehicle registered in their own name by means of a peace commissioner?

There is a procedure, talk to you local Motor Tax Office and they'll put you on the right track.

I had this problem a few months ago when the garage that sold the car to me closed down and never sent away the paperwork.
If you call 1890411412 and explain the situation they should send u an affidavit form to fill out. This must be stamped by a garage (who could charge but my friend did it for me) and then stamped by a solicitor who charged me €10.
Explain on the form why you never got the paperwork and provide a copy of a receipt if you have one, and they should post it out within two weeks or so.
    Hope this helps.

Is this how they sell cars that have been repo'd?

don't forget if one got parking fines / speed camera fines they will go to the theoretical old owner.... might not seem like its such a good plan to be lazy when they theoretically start to come in his door....
