Help with Video files (Asf)

I want to make a compilation video of the best Arsenal goals of the year, Ive signed up to Arsenal online so I can download highlights of all their games. This allows me to download an asf file. Microsoft Movie maker wont deal with these files, presumably because they are copy protected. I tried using Quick Screen Recorder but it doesnt record the video output (of any video). I tried using RM recorder to get a non copyright protected file of the highlights, but it just produces a asf file, which isnt copy protected, but I get the same error when I try and import it into Microsoft Movie Maker.

Is there a solution that I havent tried? Im not planning on distributing the video, I just want to have it for my own use.

If I remember correctly, .asf files are for streaming video and the .asf file just contains the link to the where the video is to be streamed from...

The .asf file can be opened in notepad to view the contents... it will probably have a link starting with mms:// pointing to the actual video location....

The file size should be a dead giveaway - if the .asf is anything less than 1 MB then it is just a link file, if its a couple of Mb then I'm wrong and you can ignore everything I've just said :o

Rename them .wmv and try them again with Movie Maker it should work.
