    Hi
I need a program to convert many file types(wma, aac and m4a) to mp3 with minimum loss of quality. I know a lot of programs can do this but I need one which can convert all the files at once and leave them in their original folders. Any suggestions?
    Thanks

    dbpoweramp

Transcoding lossy files will cause a further decrease in sound quality.

When you say all at once do you mean in one batch? Afaik all programs will do it on a track by track basis, but you can queue the tracks.

Isn't aac the ipod crap? If so you might need HYMN

[edit]I'd recommend converting to .ogg instead btw. But only if your mp3 player supports it (Creative don't for some unknown reason )

AAC is an audio standard developed by several groups including Sony it doesn't belong to Apple though they do wrap their DRM into items you purchase from iTunes of course which limit playback to Apple sanctioned devices only.

Try MediaCoder as well it's a free open source app and works well enough though dBpowerAMP would be also my first choice. Nero also has a good encoder as well.

    Thanks for the replies.

I have Dbpoweramp but the mp3 (lame) encoder is out of date and I need to pay to reactivate it. Is there another decent mp3 encoder I can use?

Most of it is ogg atm but my new mp3 player doesn't support it.

    OK, Follow this link http://www.snapfiles.com/Freeware/gmm/fwaudiocodec.html

Have a look through the various convertoers and take your pick, they are all freeware with no spyware attached, including the LAME(Binary) exe file.

I love Snapfiles, I use it for loads of my apps. :D

Then, come back to Boards as it is the best site in the world...ever!(I have to say this, I saw one of the Mods posting elsewhere telling people to stop sending people to other sites.) ;)
