Does anybody know what is the best way of getting to do a PhD. It's something that's interested me for a while and I do have a number of research interests? What's the next move?

There are one or two of us lurking around here who are actively looking into a PhD or doctorate of some kind.

The first thing I did was talk to my MSc. project supervisor about what was involved. The next step was to talk to a few people who have PhDs - the college I lecture in had a mini seminar on what doing a PhD entails. In parallel to this, I was thinking up of various topics.

Also keep an eye on the papers - there are always opportunities arising.

I'm doing one atm. I just went and talked to a few of my BA lecturers for ideas.

I have a degree and post-grad diploma, can i apply for a Phd? I have a few research interests too and since it takes 3 years i'd like to have it started at least before i'm 30!

    I don't see why not.

In some institutions they break the PhD into two stages - the first being an MSc. The idea being, if you want to pull out half way through, at least you get something out of it.
