    Whats the best [cheapest] online stockbroker for purchasing selling/stocks?

    What about for American markets and buying selling commodities?

    Scottrade is pretty cheap - $7 a trade. As for best, I haven't used many, but IB (www.interactivebrokers.co.uk) is great. You can trade a pretty big range of shares and commodities, and the software has an ActiveX/DDE/Java API, so you can pull info into Excel, or create an automatic trading system etc.
