Search is disabled. Where can I find good cheap blank DVD's online? I used to swear by Bulkpaq but my last batch of 4X only burn at 2X. can't find them anymore anyway.

My burner is a 4X burner, can i use 8X discs and just set the speed to 4X? 4X discs are hard to come by.

Given that the price of a new DVD burner is almost the same as a box or two of discs you really should update it if it's an old 4x drive inside your PC.

The advantage is that it will burn discs a lot better then your current drive and support faster speeds.

Get discs from SVP while your there get a NEC ND-4571a as well.

Bulkpaq never use the same media code so you never know what you are getting unless you buy from a shop that says what code it uses try some of the ones with ProdiscS03 and ProdiscR03.

Definitely stay away from INFOSMART and CMC MAG quality various a lot but mostly bad.

I got one of those NEC 4571a drives last week. Great drive, and supports DVD-RAM discs too seemingly.

Thanks guys. At this stage I was considering holding out until the HD-DVD/Bluray war is settled and then get one of those (presuming they also burn DVD's). 4X works fine for me, its just where to get the disks.

Can I use 8X discs on a 4X drive (setting the speed at 4X of course)?

Edit: Feck it HD-DVD and BluRay discs are going to be $20-$40....think I'll be waiting a few years before I get one of those!

Just found this forum: Pioneer DVR-111 Vs NEC ND-4571a

    Says the Pioneer is better.

It depends on the firmware unfortunately. I flashed my drive to an incorrect firmware (from the same company) to get 4x support on my discs. There are usually hacked firmwares available too. Of course, using any non-standard firmware is a risk.
