I've seen this add regularly enough in the Independent for Mr Asha from Hong Kong bespoke suits. He usually comes to hotels around Dublin and you can go an be measured up for a tailored suit from €140. He’s coming to the Four Seasons this week, just wondering has anyone every got a suit from him before and if so was it any good?

    Cheers.

    Hi,
My name is Carol and yes, I saw the advert and being in need of a new suit headed off to the Four Seasons Hotel from County Kildare.

    This is what I found.

Mr Asha operates from a bedroom, something I was not expecting and he was alone. Luckily I took a friend with me.

Mr Asha, is a polite Indian gentleman.
He asked if we had an appointment - the advert I saw did not mention making an appointment.
He has samples of material and pictures of styles, shapes etc.
He knows his trade and I had confidence in getting a high qualitiy well made suit UNTIL he quoted €650 for a standard design ladies skirt and jacket suit.:( I am a size 10 (so not like he would need loads of material):D

I am a IT contractor, I wear suits all the time and fully expected to pay around €300-€350 for a 2 piece suit.

I mentioned his advert said "Mr Asha's special from €150" he said that would be Polyester.
I had just then mentioned his advert said "For ladies, 1 wood suit, 1 silk dress and 1 silk blouse" all from €320

Then there was a knock at the door and a customer with an apointment arrived..... My friend and I was "ashered" out of the room so fast our feet did not hit the ground.
I did not get an answer to my question. There were not any samples of finished work and I most definately did not pay an exhorbitant price for a 2 piece suit which I am sure I could get handmade over here in Ireland for the same price.

According to the reception both Mr Asha is there every 6 weeks, so it must be worth him booking into a bedroom and he must get enough business to warrant the expenses. A suitcase of sample material and some design books is what you will see. Don't expect much more.

Hope this helps others who see his adverts.

That was my exact experience about 5 years ago, only difference was a bedroom in Herbert Park Hotel. No samples. I went with 4 others from work and all walked out. Must get business or he wouldn't keep returning. I would imagine he lives in UK and not Hong Kong or India.

This service is muck, do not use it, it's a rip off, I got caught before and nearly had to take him to court. If you want the real deal then phone Andy Hira on 0877863253, he's an tailor working out of Hong Kong who is in Dublin at the moment, call him, he's the real deal.

was in thailand 2 months ago, the same story goes there as well. they have the signs outside " all this for 100 euro" then you go into the shop and the quality of the material is quite bad. when you ask for better quality material they have it ok but then the cost goes up to 300-400 euro which is not worth.
i am beginning to believe that these guys are actually selling factory made suits after they get your measurements.

i was actually talking to to a tailor in bangkok located in one of the 5 star hotels and only in these sort of places you see the difference between the good and bad material unless you know ur textiles very well.

wouldn't bother if i were you.
