I'm amazed that nobody has posted about the gig last night yet. I've searched high and low and see no threads. Well I enjoyed every minute of it and the place was thronged to capacity too. I was also delighted to see that they (Bon Jovi) paid no heed to the whinging that the residents had done to get the gig to finish early, at a very unacceptable 10:00 p.m. They played a massive 2hr and 40 minute set and finished at 10:50 and were worth every penny of the ticket price. What did everyone else think? :D

Had a mate, who'd been dying to see Bon Jovi live for as long as I can remember, come down from Belfast for the gig. I've yet to hear from her but I'll take it she enjoyed it.

Bord Pleanála granted permission to end two concerts at 11pm rather than 10pm at night.... Last nights and then Robbie Williams later in the Summer.
The Billy Joel gig, though, will have to end at 10pm because the promoters didnt submit an application.

You should be peeved they didnt play on the extra 10mins they were allocated :p

Just one question. Did they play Wanted, Dead Or Alive?

I don't know where you were sitting - maybe you were standing. I reckon there was about 10,000 unsold seats.

    Yes they did.

I wasn't bowled over to be honest. Can't believe they didnt play Always! I suppose it was always going to be tough to match my 1st return to Croker since U2!

Yeah, they did :D It got quite a good reaction too.

I was lucky enough to be offered a free ticket yesterday evening. I didn't a lot of the songs for the first hour or so, but they played pretty much all the classics. AS free gigs go, it was pretty good. ;)

Yeah, I was waiting for that as well.

Mate was there and said it was brilliant. Bon Jovi are my favourite band but after seeing them many times can't bear to hear all the old songs played the same way again. They are great live though.

I was indeed standing, as hear the barrier front and centre as i could get and from where I was i didn't see too many seats empty bar a few pockets but not on the scale you mention.. I reckon 80,000 ain't bad for a band that aren't U2, or home grown (Irish). :p

Maybe they were afraid that anyone with the slightest bit of testosterone would have upped and left...

Great gig. I was sure it was going to finish at 10 also.

I though Nickelback were class also.

I didn't see the first band. Anyone know who there are and if they're any good?

Heard them from my house last night. Its great living beside Croker! They were class indeed!

although I think his voice is begining to wain a little (doesn't put it all in for a lot of songs and then does some long notes to show he can still sing).......anyway I thought it was great, haven't seen them since 88' in the RDS and they still put on a great live show, there were a lot of tracks off the new album, and they didn't go down as well as the classics - but ok, some good some alright, thought the encore options were a little odd, but overall a really good night out, I was up in the Premium seats in the Hogan, have to say I was looking around and the crowd was growing all the time as Bon Jovi were on, I was surprised by the size of the crowd - spare space on the pitch because you aren't going to get people standing behind obstructions of tents......but the higher tier of the stands was surprisingly full......70,000 for a band like Bon Jovi in Croke park would be very good too......the curfew being 11:00 means the pretty much have to finish a quarter hour prior to that........

I had a great time. Can't believe they wouldn't let you bring beer onto the pitch though!

Great gig-almost as good as the RDS in 2001 (i think)-took a while to get going but when it did it was excellent. They are still one of the most entertaining bands I have seen live outside of U2.
I had a great time. Can't believe they wouldn't let you bring beer onto the pitch though!
I doubt the GAA would like spilled beer seeping into the turf-that and the fact that you'd do well to get through the crowd without spilling any.
Although it was the same in the stands, you could only drink behind the stands and not on them-again, some health and safety thing-same with U2 last yeah and probably at any gig in landsdown rd as well.

I was in Croker too and thought it was an excellent night!
I went to Milton Keynes on the last night and thought it was fantastic too.
Always is a very rare song, I in no way expected it in Dublin and am so glad we didnt get it, hate that song! We got it in MK and it didnt get a great reaction.

Seen the title of this thread and was like 'WTF'!?! Now I know...
Its a while ago now, but yeah, I thought all three bands were pretty good. Jaded Sun were the first band, for who ever asked.
It was my fourth time seeing the Jovial ones and I'd rank it in the middle. I had a great day and all, and there were a few surprises on the set-list, but I dunno.... at times, they seemed to drift in and out of it... Richie Sambora especially. NOTHING off These Days (my favourite album) though and that sucked balls.

Oh, and for those asking about Always... they stopped playing that on the These Days tour. It was one of those songs that became bigger than the band, so they 'retired' it. Just like Radiohead with Creep and Nirvana with ... Teen Spirit. They'll play it again at some stage, no doubt...

they actually played always a few times on the new tour but not the origional version a scaled down acoustic version.....oh yeah great gig in croker for the die hards not so much for the "best of" crowd and i thought the encore choices were deadly my highlight being dry county and the fact i was 4 rows from the front probably added to the deadlyism(new word) of it all

Dry County was friggin' awesome.... :D
