as i say, apologies if this has been asked before, but searching just threw up a million topics with little, if no, relevance

basically, ive got a 360 here, and a cat5 netword cable

i thought it might work to bang the cable from the xbox into the network card of my internet pc, but altho the xbox passes the test for the network as wired, it fails the ip test every time

im not too well up on networking, so i put in the ip in the network settings and got a conflict error on my pc, it gives a gateway number which is entered as well, but the third option in the networking setup on live (cant remember offhand what it is) doesnt have an address/information that i can see via network properties on my computer

am i trying something that cant be done, or am i just going about it the wrong way?

any help would be fantastic as the xbox website has been a bit confusing, coz as i sai, i know feck all about networking

cheers, and apologies again if this is a topic youre sick and tired of seeing, but i couldnt find a straight answer to my question by searching google/xbox.com

Assuming your pc has two network cards, set the network stuff on xbox to automatic, then brige both your connections on the pc (broadband, and xbox)
    ;)

Check your Firewall first, see if its blocking it, then check the port settings on your router, most router congfig pages have a box to tick to enable PnP networking, see if its checked, these were what messed me up connecting the two together last week, mine was failing on MTU aswell and im pretty sure it was firewall on my pc stopping it......

Thats weird, you should be able to browse the net + play 360 at once, it should just automatically connect share with the 360, are you using a normal ethernet cable to your xbox? I think you need a crosswired one if not, im not sure...

Ive one of them Zyxel prestige modems and I have the PC going through on the USB, and the 360 connected to PC with a crosswired ethernet cable, its grand then, any techies network heads have any info?
