Went up North last weekend with my dad, forgot my Dslr, so shot 6 rolls of Superia, 2 Sensia and one Ilford Fp4. Too many to link from here, but my last 2 pages on my Flickr account show some of the best from the first 6 rolls. Hope you enjoy. C&C accepted.

Those are cool - I love the vignetting effect (even if it was accidental).

The derelict buildings look very very close to some of the half life 2 Levels (closer than the HDR one in another thread). Also reminded me a bit of parts of the Silent Hill movie. Cant really think of anything more critical at this time of night - my preference is for the buliding interiors than the outdoors - I think the look and feel of the photos suits them more than the outdoors ones.

Just went through your gallery and this caption is the funniest - must try this one sometime:

"Went about college with a cable release and my 10-20mm, and asked people if they could see a scratch in the lens... *Click*

    Hahaha!"

Vignetting is anything but accidental, I could have put the lens out to maybe 14mm and gotten none...but where's the fun in that! I love the indoor ones myself, but the skies in the outdoor ones really have me. Saturation is great in the lens anyways, nevermind with half decent film and a bit of post processing!

    Thanks!

I like the indoor stuff best too though there are some great outdoor ones. The vignetting is ok in moderation but it works on most of the shots. My favourites of these are the dirt road and the old pier with the blue and red boats.

I prefer it on the outdoor photos more, although all those shots look great. It just reinforces my decision to buy a wide-angle lens when I go to Las Vegas next month. :D

    You won't regret it! Seriously!

    Thanks guys :D

Your fish-eye lens looks great, but I've my eye on a 35mm wide angle Sigma lens as we'll be seeing the Grand Canyon, Lake Tahoe, Death Valley and hopefully parts of Route 66.

If you're travelling at night, here's some inspiration - www.lostamerica.com

Someone posted the link up here a good while back, been in love with some of his shots since.

Heres another piece of inspiration from dev art (I did not take this - wish I could).

nice stuff there Fajitas. I'm heading up to Donegal/Derry/Antrim myself for a week or so fairly shortly... anywhere you'd suggest I take in while I'm up there? Like, not so obvious places.

Definitly the Inish Eoin 100, lovely place. Don't bother with a map, just get yourself lost! You'll come accross little harbours and ruined forts everywhere.

Dunree is pretty cool too, thats where the indoors shots are. There's battlements there, and a tourist attraction, but head off the beaten track and there's some lovely shots. If its low tide, jump the wall and head to the pier and pillboxes!

If you get a chance to go to Downings or the Giants Causeway, jump at it! Look forward to see your results!

    Bunclody, or Buncrana?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,624 ✭✭✭✭Fajitas!

    Buncrana...Apologies! I got confused!

Rymus - you could do worse than taking a walk along Derry's walls, very atmosperic and I think they're replacing the cannons back up there again after a few centuries of neglect. The town inside the walls is also pretty quaint and there's a very dramatic bronze sculture right in the central square.

Then there's the usual "Free Derry" Corner and the Bogside, but they've been shot to bits by now.

    Mind yourself there too :-)

I have some shots from the Bogside and the Fountain. It's very hard to get original photos from there, so I didn't really want to put them up. Whatever the situation, don't go to the Foyleside. I'd been strictly warned against that by my friends from Derry...

The photos I have of a broken down pier... That's kind of...If your coming out of Derry into Donegal, head up towards Buncrana and the Inish Eoghan 100 track, and when you're overlooking the lough, you should see the pier if it's a good day. It's possible to get some great shots there. Oh, and get the ferry from Buncrana too... That's about all I can remember at the moment!

Great shots there, I need to pick up a shutter release at some point. Aye, I probably will be travelling at night as the (American) family I will be with are basically Fremen..
