Apart from the My Father, My King CD, nothing by Mogwai has really captured me. I can safely say it's not Happy Songs for Happy People as that is one of the worst albums I've ever come across.

I can't remember what it is like at all so I'm guessing it didn't. I might give it another try tonight (I've only managed to listen to it twice since it came out).

Bits of Young Team and Come On, Die Young are OK. Xmas Steps = amazing, though.

Took the words right out of my mouth!
A few songs on Happy Songs are good, especially Hunted By a Freak.
Ten Rapid has a few good moments too

I'd urge you to listen to it again. The first track off that album is possibly one of my favourite tunes of all time, it starts off so chilled out and gloomy followed by great layerings of sound and a thumping back beat, makes me feel great listening to it. Killing All The Flies and Ratts of the Capital are nice too. I wouldn't say it's a great album, and I wouldn't say any of the others are great either, but when you combine Mogwai's best stuff together I think they're really amazing. (as proven by the gig in Templebar music centre in January)

After seeing that gig I got the sense that there is a great sense of musicianship in the band, with each member striving for perfection.
