    hi all need advice

i booked a cruise with tony roche travel last december to go this october. tony roche ceased trading last friday. the company hasnt yet gone into liquadition. will do though. anyway, last night i got a call from another travel agent sayng that the crusie company had been in contact with him asking him to look after us and our booking. he advised us to get in contact with the aviation regulation board in order to get refunded for our deposit. the deposit was never paid to the cruise company, the trave agent held onto it. anyway, when i called the board they told me that i wasnt entitled to my money back as i am not starting my holiday from ireland (i had not booked the flights yet, i had only booked the crusie). the new travel agent already told me that the chances of getting my money back from the liquatator are slim to none. i paid on my laser card and have all reciepts and my sister paid on her visa, (she lives in america but booked through here for less hassle!!).

any advice as to what we can do?

    cheers.

Customers are usually the last in line with liquidations, Pretty sure you won't see the money back from that end.

The credit card company should refund that booking, not sure about the laser situation. Best thing is to contact these immediately.

Go to your bank immediately and tell them the situatation (i.e service has not been provided) and ask them to initiate a dispute on the transaction.

have contacted the bank thanks. they told me i have to fill out a dispute form. they will then look for the money off the liquaditor. my sister called her credit card company. they told her to get all the information she could now but that they could not even think about money until after the holiday? thats november? anyway, hopefully it will get sorted. feel sorry for those who have paid the full amount.

Was the travel agent not bonded ?

It's the law-they couldnt have a licence without it and ergo the tourist should as far as possible get their money back in the event of an agency going bankrupt.

yes they were bonded but the problem is we only got as far as booking the crusie and not the flights. in order to get anywhere with the board u have to have travel originating in ireland. we only booked the cruise which leaves from america so therefore according to them we are not originating from ireland (i think they think we are swimming to them lol). so that is how we are stuck.
